Oslo - a city for families

Oslo is a short hop away from the UK by plane.  Cheap flights fly daily from London Stansted to Oslo Rygge and Torp airports.  Costs of travel into Oslo is approximately £25 per adult return.  Oslo is really an amazing city for UK families to experience.  There are some chains there as you would expect.  You are never far from a McDonalds or Burger King but unlike other capital cities, there is a whole range of unique and one-off shops for one of the least commercialised city experiences you can benefit from.

In one day, you can walk from the palace  to the other end of the city.  The palace houses a real royal family but unlike Buck House, you can get upfront and personal with a real lack of overbearing police presence.  In the same day, you can skate in the free, public ice rink and visit the free museums including a true viking experience in the Natural History Museum.  Why not visit the Ice Hotel nearby which is rebuilt every year out of, you guessed it ice.  On a second day, you could cross the bay to visit a wonderful viking village and museum.

The most important aspect of life here is the family and the coffee shops with no chain in sight; just wholesome family scones and wonderful hot chocolate.

A word of warning, it is not cheap so choose a hotel with a comprehensive breakfast included such as the Thon Hotel Opera from £78 per person per night and a great selection to start your day with.

Shorefields Holiday Resorts

If you are looking for a caravanning holiday in the UK, that offers close proximity to the seaside, beautiful forest scenes, entertainment for the kids and peacefulness, why not sure a Shorefields holiday.
'We recently came back from the Oakfield site and we really enjoyed the site, which was small enough to keep an eye on our three year old but big enough to have kids clubs (parents in attendance for the young ones) and Cyril the Squirrel.  All of us enjoyed ourselves and really appreciated the Pub across the road, which serviced two for one meals and actually offered the children a really healthy selection of meals with four choices of vegetables to accompany.
We will definitely be going back' Cecilia.
