Bumping away those bruises
A Warwickshire grandmother is enjoying sell-out success from a novel piece of cushioned head gear
designed to protect 480,000 accident-prone toddlers when they fall over every year.
After speaking to advisers from Business Link West Midlands, Susan Port of Kenilworth, struck out
and secured the exclusive UK and European rights to sell the Canadian-born product Baby
No Bumps.
Frustration drove the ambitious grandmother-of-six to seek help from the internet after years of
having to look on helplessly while her grandchildren tumbled or banged their heads - risking a trip to A&E along the way.
She has already sold out of some of her lines and had recently launched Baby No Bumps at the Earl’s
Court Baby Show.
"I was granted
the licence in July 2006 by the Canadian firm who have the design patent," Susan said.
"My grand daughter was forever falling down and banging her head and as there wasn’t anything around
in the shops at the time so I went on-line and when I saw the product - I just fell in love.
It was difficult trying to establish my presence at the fair when I was up against Mothercare and Fisher
Price and other well-known brands. But everyone who saw the product said they loved it and I've sold 300 online, which is
where I achieve most of my sales."
Baby No Bumps has been successfully sold
across the United States, Canada and the Far East. Susan is just launching the product in the UK.
